Stomp, Rodin and Olympic Hockey Madness at RMT
K, finally finished my Mongolian post. After I returned from Mongolia, I went to see Stomp. It was fantastic and honestly better than I expected. I had a great time - would recommend it to anyone.
Found out there was a Rodin exhibit in Bundang - it's there until March 5th for anyone who still wants to see it. It really should be called Louvre - On Loan, or something more whitty than that; give me a break it's midnight here. Regardless, they had my FAVOURITE sculture in the whole wide world here.
The Nike of Samothrace
Now, this sculpture was outside and you could take as many pictures as you wanted and I did; in many different formants as you can see. But inside they had a small version (copy) of the Thinker by Rodin and a few of his other works that were inspired by Dante's writings. They had a variety of sculptures that depict Aphrodite/Venus including the famous the Venus de Milo and The Dying Slave. There were sketches by Picasso as well as one of the Mona Lisa by A. Bridoux.
Now I understand the whole - don't take pictures thing, but really sculpture, especially marble is not going to crumble in front of your eyes if you take its picture. Especially if it survived the trip all the way from Paris as most of these works of art probably came from there. The sketches and paintings fine, could care less really, but the sculptures. AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGG!!!!!
There I am done my venting over stupid idiotic Korean logic.
At least I already have a picture of the Venus and the Thinker from Paris. As well, it would have been worth being yelled at for the pictures of the Nike, but I was lucky it didn't come to that. But go figure I could take tons of that one outside and NONE of the ones inside...I am really done venting now.
From Art to Olympics Hockey
RMT as the regulars call it, or Rocky Mountain Tavern for those who are not familiar is (as far as I know) the only bar showing the Olympics in Itaewon including the hockey games. Thank you for taking on the headache of televising the games at all hours. On Saturday, some drunken idiot touched the projection box upstairs and thus lost the feed for everyone so most of us had to crouch down on the stairs to watch the game. Alas, the Canadians were defeated by the Swiss 2 - 0. It was a difficult game to watch, not only from the stairs, but also from the Canadian standpoint. The Swiss played well and deserved to win. Here is the mayhem that is the bar on that Saturday night.
This is still the round robin...I will head in early to camp out my spot at RMT tomorrow to watch 3 different games. Mostly I am just waiting for the Women's and the Men's games - Canada of course. They are also showing the USA vs. whoever. Should be an interesting night which includes a medal - hopefully the men can actually play well and score some goals to give us some hope.
